About Andrea

Originally hailing from the state of Washington, soprano Andrea Hansen completed her Master’s degree in Voice Performance at Texas State University. While completing her undergraduate at Central Washington University, Andrea performed as Laurie Moss in Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land and as Tatyana in the compelling finale of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. While at Texas State, Andrea had the great privilege of performing as Sadie from Carlisle Floyd’s first opera Slow Dusk, Blanche de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, a role she reprised in Vancouver, B.C., in August 2015. Andrea has further made a name for herself in Mozart repertoire with performances in Le Nozze di Figaro, as Countess Almaviva, Così fan tutte as Fiordiligi, and Die Zauberflöte, as First Lady. In scenes productions, Andrea has performed as the title role in Floyd’s Susannah and as the temperamental Bianca in Vittorio Giannini’s sweeping adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew, the latter being performed at the National Opera Association 2014 Convention in the Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition. Andrea also nurtures an affinity for Russian romance songs and opera, and has programmed pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff, in addition to participating in Russian Opera Workshop’s Philadelphia premiere of Anton Rubinstein’s The Demon.

Andrea currently resides in Chicago with her supportive husband and two operatically indifferent cats.
